We are hereby pleased to announce the Thirty-Fourth Annual Colloquy of the American Weil Society, which will take place at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada on April 25-26, 2014, and to call for papers. The theme will be: “Simone Weil: Between Antiquity and Modernity.” Proposals (of approximately 500 words) are invited on the theme, which is deliberately broad, and includes the possibility of any number of approaches from her consideration of the ancient Greeks, to her understanding and critique of modernity. Proposals should be sent by January 15, 2014, to Sophie Bourgault at sbourgau@uottawa.ca. Proposals will be peer-reviewed. Timely and interesting proposals not directly related to the topic will certainly also be given all due consideration.
