Purlieu is an international peer-reviewed publication, both print and electronic, committed to highlighting exceptional work from around the world. In each issue, we showcase students’ essays hand-in-hand with relevant and distinctive perspectives of contemporary academic and cultural figures.

Spring 2012 and Fall 2011 Editions Included: The First English Translation of Eugen Fink’s “Oase des Glücks: Gedanken zu einer Ontologie des Spiels” as well as Special Contributions from Babette Babich, Gianni Vattimo, Baird Callicott, Iain Thomson, Santiago Zabala, Steven Crowell, Ian Moore, Jesus Zamora Bonilla, and many more.

For Authors

Articles are welcome in any area of philosophy or philosophical perspectives, including but not limited to: Gender and Race Studies, Philosophy of Science and Education, Literature, Political Science, Ecology, Education, Communication Studies, Linguistics, Sociology, Anthropology, Poetry, Urban Studies, and Psychology.

Articles are blind-reviewed and judged on their philosophical merit and relevance. Articles should be double-spaced Word documents, with a cover page (including institutional affiliation) and 300-500 word abstract. For stylistic concerns, consult the University of Chicago Press Manual of Style.

Imagery is encouraged; however it is the obligation of the author to obtain permission for any imagery within the article if it is not within public domain. Authors will not be charged extra for images.
