Arendt Circle 2015 Stony Brook Manhattan

The Department of Philosophy and the Graduate School at Stony Brook University in Manhattan will be hosting the eighth independent conference of the Hannah Arendt Circle, March 21-22, 2014.

As in past years, we invite individual submissions for papers on any aspect of Arendt’s work, including critiques and applications of her thinking.

Please send an abstract of the paper (750 word limit) as an email (“.doc”) attachment. Abstracts should be formatted for anonymous review and submitted to the program committee chair, Lisa Stenmark (Lisa.Stenmark@sjsu.edu) on or before December 15th, 2013. Please indicate “Arendt Circle submission” in the subject heading of your email message.

Program decisions will be announced January 10th, 2014.

Program Committee:
Lisa Stenmark, San Jose State University
Kei Hiruta, Oxford University
Anne O’Byrne, Stony Brook University

Our first seven independent meetings were outstanding, and we are looking forward to the same camaraderie and intense discussion of Arendt’s work at this year’s conference. Each speaker will have approximately 35 minutes for paper presentation and discussion combined —papers should be a maximum of 3000 words (15-20 minutes).

Stony Brook Manhattan is located in Manhattan, and lodging has been reserved at the Park South Hotel, which is within easy walking distance of the meeting site.
Program and information concerning travel and accommodation will be available no later than January 24th, 2014 at:
