Assistant Professor of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy at the University of South Florida, Tampa invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in philosophy at assistant professor rank, beginning August 7, 2026. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in philosophy or cognate field by the start date. AOS: Continental Philosophy. AOC: open. The Ph.D. program in Philosophy at USF has a major emphasis in the History of Philosophy. Particular needs include Heidegger, twentieth-century phenomenology and poststructuralism, social-political and non-Western/Asian. Normal teaching load is 2/2; 9-month appointment, with the expectation of active engagement with and supervision of Ph.D. students. Preference will be given to applicants who have at least one year of teaching experience in the listed area of specialization, with records of strong research combined with outstanding continued research potential and demonstrated excellence in teaching philosophy, and to those with potential to contribute to USF’s strategic plan.
