Concordia University

The expertise and scholarship of the Philosophy Department’s faculty extends across broad areas of the discipline, including the history of Western philosophy, contemporary analytic, and contemporary European Continental thought. Located in the heart of Montréal’s downtown area, the Department offers an MA program in Philosophy for students who wish to intensify their undergraduate experience in philosophy and for students planning to pursue a PhD in philosophy. For students who do not have an Honours degree in Philosophy, we offer a Qualifying Year Program or qualifying courses. The MA program may be completed in one to two years and concludes with either a Major Research Paper or a Master’s Thesis. Graduates of the program have gone on to some of the best PhD programs. The MA program students run a long-standing graduate student journal by the name of Gnosis and organize a well-attended graduate student conference each year.
