CFP Special Issue on Jan Patočka

Labyrinth – an international peer-reviewed, printed and open access journal – is summing up its two 2017 issues under the headings “Heretical Challenges and Orthodoxy.” The Summer Issue is dedicated to Jan Patočka and carried out in cooperation with the Patočka Archive in Vienna. Of special interest are original interpretations dealing with the main topics of his Philosophy as f.ex.:

  • The Reception, Reevaluation, and Contribution to Phenomenology and Contemporary Thought
  • The Theme of the Crisis of Meaning and Society in their historical and actual forms of expression
  • Anxiety, Fear, Death, and the Care of the Soul
  • Freedom, Sacrifice, and Religious Experience
  • Authenticity, Responsibility, and the Obligation of Resisting Injustice
  • The Idea of Europe and the Post-European Condition
  • Human Rights, Solidarity, and the Values of Europe

Philosophers and researchers working on Patočka are kindly invited to submit a 500-1000 words abstract until 15th of April with a brief biographical note (including institutional affiliation, research interests and main publications). Authors, who have already a finished and unpublished paper, are welcome to submit it within the abstract in order to help the peer review process.

Also welcome are book reviews and event reports on related topics.

Submission and Review Deadlines:

  • 15th of April 2017: deadline for submissions of abstracts; if you have a finished paper, please submit it within the abstract.
  • 16th of July: paper submission deadline for accepted abstracts.
  • 13th August: peer-review process completion, results notification, and peer-reviewers recommendations for a final revision, if needed.
  • 1st September 2017: deadline for submitting papers in their final form.
