Professor and Chair, Stony Brook University

The Department of Philosophy at Stony Brook University invites applications for the position of Professor and Chair of the Department, with a start date of Fall 2017.

The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarship and professional service, as well as the administrative experience and skills needed to lead a pluralistic department in a research university. Candidates should have a significant profile in Continental philosophy, broadly conceived. Areas of specialization that are of interest to the Department include feminism, philosophy of science and technology, ethics, and critical theory.

Candidates should share Stony Brook’s commitment to diversity in philosophy. The successful candidate will be appointed as a tenured full professor and will serve as chair for a three-year term, which is renewable subject to departmental and decanal approval.
